About

How it all started

From a dream to reality, our passion for supporting children’s holistic wellbeing through the lens of mindfulness has flourished into Playtime Healing. A business that meets your child where they are at, and supports them in a creative, play based, and FUN way to develop tools and techniques that will support their mental health and holistic wellbeing.

Our story

Playtime Healing was established in 2023 by Kerrie Hunt. Kerrie is a fully qualified Mindfulness Teacher and Coach, with a background in Early Years Education.

Kerrie developed her own mindfulness practise, and through her experiential implementation of the tools and techniques she learned, she has developed a unique approach to promoting mindfulness. Kerrie believes in the power of mindfulness as a transformative tool and has first hand experience in cultivating a positive mindset through mindfulness practises.

Through the support of evidence based research, Kerrie now advocates for Mindfulness education in the Early Years, Childhood, and beyond, as a fundamental tool for promoting holistic wellbeing and positive mental health.

Our approach

At Playtime Healing, we believe that early introduction to mindfulness can be transformational in supporting children’s holistic wellbeing and mental health.

Our Why

Through early introduction children can develop the tools and techniques that will build resilience, and help to support them through the ups and downs they will inevitably encounter throughout childhood and beyond.

Recent years have seen a significant decline in children’s mental health, with alarming increases in anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges. Studies report rising rates of hospital admissions for mental health conditions, self-harm, and eating disorders among young people, particularly in the wake of the pandemic and growing societal pressures. These challenges underscore the urgent need for proactive, evidence-based approaches to support children’s emotional well-being.

Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have emerged as a powerful tool to address this growing crisis. Research highlights that mindfulness practices can improve emotional regulation, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance overall mental well-being in children. Programs implemented in schools and early education settings have demonstrated that mindfulness not only calms the mind but also equips children with lifelong skills to navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop emotional intelligence.

By introducing mindfulness in the early years and childhood, we create opportunities for children to connect with their emotions, build self-awareness, and learn to manage big feelings in healthy, constructive ways. These practices lay the foundation for stronger mental health, better social relationships, and a more compassionate understanding of themselves and others.

As a mindfulness educator, my mission is to bring these transformative tools into children’s lives, empowering them with the skills they need to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically in an increasingly complex world.
